This is the motto of all PMMAer’s since the PMMA started. I would like to share to you about the PMMA sword sponsor. When I was a Midshipmen cadet before in the Academy. The Academy has different association to join with. Like the Silent drill, Galleon, helm etc. Every Association have there own works and responsibility in the Academy. I belong to the Group of PMMA Sword sponsor. PMMA sword sponsor is a group of midshipmen from 3cl to 1cl who will escort the Graduate in there weeding in short Military Weeding.

When I was a 3cl I performed 5 weddings on my 5 seniors in PMMA. Laguna, Intramuros, Batangas (lipa), Batangas (mataas na kahoy), and Botolan Zambales. My favorite wedding is the beach weeding in Botolan Zambales. We escort our senior in sunset wedding in Botolan Zambales. His bride was so shock because she doesn’t know about the sword sponsor and the bride cries for joy because of unforgettable experience.

Here is the set up of a PMMA sword sponsor. The graduate will request in the Academy a 5 pairs of cadets and 2 take charge ( It depends on him if he will get 5 pairs or more side boys). The 5 pairs 3cl will be the escort and the 2 1cl will be the take charge. The graduate will be the one who will produce a transportation, food, and room for the cadets. The 5 pairs will be wearing our most sacred uniform in the Academy which is the Galla, with perching cap and sword. All are ready for the wedding. The 5 pairs will be the one who will enter first in the church. They will march while entering the church and stay in the middle part of ails while waiting for your senior who will be getting married. Before the graduate pass the sword sponsor the cadets will command a present sword (tanghal ta) to our senior. The senior replied by a hand salute to the side boys and the senior can pass the cadet’s. The first 2 pairs will be joining the senior walking going to the altar. The cadet will march slowly (a stallion way march). When the senior is in altar the 2 pair cadet’s will be stand at attention near to the altar facing each other. Here’s the greatest part for the bride, before the bride pass the last 3 pairs of cadet the 3 cadet will command forward march and escort the bride going to the altar. The cadet’s will march a stallion way slowly for the bride making the bride center to there formation. When the bride is on the altar the sword sponsor will be marching to there sit and wait for further instruction.

Before the wedding will be finish the 5 pair’s cadets will be marching near the door of the church. The 5 pair’s cadet will be waiting for the new couple to go out in the church. Before the Groom and Bride pass the sword sponsor the Sword sponsor will command cross sword. They will raise there sword 30 degrees in the air and it will cross upward. When the Bride and the Groom pass the 1^st pair the cadets will lock the sword downward that they cannot go out inside the 5 pair’s cadets. Before the Groom and the bride pass the last pair the last pair will cross there sword downward so the Groom and the Bride cannot pass. Then one of the element of the sword sponsor will reciting. A WHILE AGO WE HAVE SEEN THE GROOM KISS THE BRIDE AND KNOW IN BEHALF OF THE PHILIPPINE MERCHANT MARINE ACADEMY CORPS OF MIDSHIPMEN MAY WE REQUEST THE BRIDE TO KISS THE GROOM FOR 10 SECONDS. (The second of counting will be depending on the graduate and the take charge of the sword sponsor). The Midshipmen will be counting 10 to 1 while the Groom and the Bride kissing each other Cage of sword. When the count is finish by one the last pair will tap each other swords and the way will be open that the Groom and the Bride can pass and they can precede to reception.

This is the unforgettable part on the Bride when they will cut the cake. In other Wedding the Bride and the Groom will be using an ordinary knife or special knife to cut the cake. On the PMMA way before they cut the cake one of the sword sponsors will perfume a daring sword drill.
