They can see more company here and the Shipping company promote and give to a seaman more high salary, more benefits that they ever dream, that is one of the seaman need for there lives. and the Filipino is the most in demand seaman in the world.
The Shipping industries are now in a deep shortage of crew on board. That’s why this shipping companies create there booth in kalaw to attract the seaman that are searching for better company. A seaman Filipino for the ship owner is the most low cost to pay, responsible crew, hard working and can adopt English language that are use in most communication around the world. Before, the Chinese seaman is the major treat in Filipino seaman industry. The Chinese is the cheapest salary. The Filipino Able seamen have a salary of 1200 to 1400 US dollars a month and the Chinese Able Seaman can have a salary of 80 US dollars a month. They can survive with a whole contract for just noodle food. It's a super saving for the owner of the vessel to pay for the Chinese than the Filipino crew. But the Chinese seaman Protest to the owner of the ship to have an increase on there wages. They ask the entire Filipino seaman on board the ship if they have the same wages. The Filipino crew told the Chinese that they have 3 times higher salary than Chinese. The Chinese seaman want an increase for there wages but the owner of the ship ignore the request of the Chinese seaman. The Chinese seaman destroy all the ship, they didn't work on board. The ship was full of rust and this ship was failed in vetting inspections because of the Chinese. They left all the ship and return to there original job in there mother land. In this case the owner of the ships was turn to bankrupt mode. They thought that they can save more money to the one who are cheapest to pay than the one who is the most standard one.
As a token or privilege to the Filipino crew, they bring back there ship to Filipinos. They increase the salary of the Filipino crew just to have the trust of the Filipino crew back to there ship. There is no more treat for the Filipino crew but instead the shortage of the crew on board arises. The more shortage of crew on board the more they increase the salary and the age limit was abolish.










Now the official seaman tambayan was full of shipping company that in deeply need of a crew on board there ship. They are saying that they are the greatest shipping company just to get the trust of the seaman who wants a better shipping company. They post the privilege on board the ship and the highest salary that they can give to the searching seaman. Now the Captain Filipino can have a half million pesos in just one month and that is the reason of shortage of crew. They increase the salary and maybe in few months or year it will reach 1 million pesos for the captain in just one month. That’s why all Filipino officer eager to get the Master license as soon as possible. We take a board exam just to be a captain of the ship. There are 3 PRC board exam just to have a Master license and have the half million a month salary.
